Reservoir Dogs and Lock Stocks media comparison.

The beginning scene in Reservoir Dogs opens in with the characters eating. This signifies unity within the group; this is a typical gangster scene. Not until everyone is introduced we see that they are in a café.
they are all dressed in black and white they look like a typical gang, whereas if I didn’t know that Lock stocks was a gangster movie I would have thought it was something else. The only indication to gangster is the dodgy deals at the beginning. But the setting was a private place suggesting they don’t want to be seen.

In Reservoir Dogs they had a low tone, very typical gang style whereas In Lock Stocks they speak in cockney rhyme which suggests they are in England. This one is very rushed, you want to watch on. But Reservoir is more relaxed I wasn’t as drawn in. there is a definite leader in this is movie. But in Lock Stocks I could not see a leader.

My Team

Right! ello ello what's all this then? It is me introducing the members of my team. there is no 'I' in team. But rearrange the letters you get at me. As in my team has a go at me for not knowing how to work the camera. There goes my pathetic approach to being funny.

Firstly the evil master mind behind the camera, Jonny Keats. He was the one behind the camera during the perliminary task. He does not quite have the talent to keep a straight face when he is on camera, but i cannot complain i am the last person you should leave in charge of the camera. He will bring a steady hand to the camera, with his knowledge on how to use the camera will be very handy later in filming.

Then we have Jack Mason. What talent does he hold? Quite a lot actually, playing the part of an actor he is not camera shy and the camera in his face he can remain quite calm. He is the comedian behind this group and will always bring laughter to the project. He is behind great ideas and will create comical dialect in our project.

Then there is me. I don't use the camera, for obvious reasons so i act infront of the camera. i come up with ideas, the Scary Door was originally my idea that Jack and Jonny developed. I should be okay infront of the camera. Taking drama for A level i should be involving dramatical skills in my project

Preliminary Task tHE sCARY dOOR

Righty-ho the Preliminary Task
well we were asked to film and edit a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of dialogue. We worked the idea of this around that but found it very boring but was important was that we needed to demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule. So we thought I know, lets be special.
Basically our storyline character one, Jack Mason aka Macky walks up some stairs, opens the door walks through and *SPOILER ALERT*
He ends up in the class room! Shock horror! And there has a short conversation with Character two aka me and ends with me being very confused that I ended up outside after walking through the door.

The Filming
I did not operate the camera because I was acting, if you didn’t know because you didn't bother reading my previous paragraph or if you just have a really short memory, or if you just have a really short memory, or if you just have a really short memory. Right that is enough with the memory jokes!
Our first shot was one of an aerial view of Jack walking up the stairs then we pan around him walking then opening a door. The next shot was an extreme close up of Jack walking into the table. The next shot was an establishing shot of the room from Jack’s point of view. We then used over the shoulder, demonstrating the 180’ rule. This then changes to a long shot of me getting up and walking out the door. The last shot is a medium shot of me walking out the door outside and saying “whoa”.
Apart from the extreme close up of jack which was a bit to extreme the filming went well and the characters were positioned well but that extreme close up was to emphasise the leg hitting the table, we should have filmed match on action of that.

Editing
My final result, I liked it! It contained all that it needed to contain and was very entertaining. Everyone in my group is saying how tedious and boring editing was. To be honest I loved editing one of my favourite parts, without the editing it would be pretty shoddy. I presume that I just like the feeling of knowing how to edit and loved how the task turned out. After all the mistakes were taken out and after moving and cutting the clips, there were no more problems with continuity I think it was perfect for a beginner in this type of work.

Warner Bros.

Well their homepage, much information if you ask me. The colour, personally it makes me bored and doesn’t interest me in reading it. Light blue on white? Bad choice! Where’s the excitement? It’s Warner Bros! But to be fair it is organised very well, separated into Home, Movies Television etc.
so what can be said about this? Well to start well done I’m more drawn in by the images and white text on DARK blue, not LIGHT blue is a lot more easier to read, shame you couldn’t apply the same knowledge to your homepage.

Five facts about this studio:
this studio was originally built on a plot of farmland in 1926 by First National Pictures which Warner 1. Bros. bought in 1928
2. By the 1930’s Warner Bros. had constructed nine more sound stages all of which still in use today.
3. The studio was big on Gangster movies in the 1930’ and was home to little Caesar and The Public Enemy.
4. Warner Communications and Columbia Pictures joined forces in 1972 to create a production facility called The Burbank Studios.
5. Warner Bros. Pictures introduced the world to the Harry Potter series for those who do not have time to read the books or to lazy, also for those who love Harry Potter and read the books. This shattered several box office and industry records.
Warner also own other companies two example of these are:
Warner brother records and Warner brothers media.

My Comparison of Memento and Insomnia

Insomnia:

Memento:

Memento and Insomnia are both thrillers but both directed by Christopher Nolan, but they have a different way of presenting it is a thriller. Due to the fact that they have a different storyline they need to start differently to grab the viewer's attention.
Insomnia, the music is very un-easing and there is a sense of fear and the unknown. When 'Insomnia', the title appears, it moves towards you as if its something you cannot escape from, it's closing in on you! In comparison to this in 'Memento' the music is similar and gives that same feeling of unease. But the title appears big, bold and filling up the whole screen. This suggests you need to remember it.
During the the introduction of the credits, after the title there is an image in the back ground, something very close up this creates mystery in the viewers mind. Before you have time to think what it could be the image changes to a frozen, rocky mountainous isolated area. This set up is very common for a thriller, an exotic scene, away from human interaction. It is very mysterious. Unlike Insomnia, memento goes right into the image. You can see that the character is holing a photo, looks like a murder. But after about 30 seconds you begin to realise the picture is fading and time is going backwards. This is unusual for a thriller; it is unusual for any film. This sparks mystery and grabs the viewer’s attention immediately. But we find that the character is in an isolated dark room away from human interaction, a typical thriller setting.
Only two minutes into the clip we see what is actually happening, blood is dripping onto a fabric, soaking up the blood and the image before was the bloody the small fibres of that cloth. This slow introduction creates suspense and should make the viewer want to watch on find out what happened. Similarly memento slowly introduces the scene but gets faster. At the end of the clip we find out what we see at the beginning, the photo being taken. This sudden action draws the viewer in and they want to watch and find out what has happened. Why the odd introduction. In my opinion from these two introductions I would rather watch memento. It had mystery, action and a little incite to what it is about.
